Most of new comers from Window$ world always say , okay i used to use program X and i can't find it on GNU/Linux system so what should i do ???
ok here i'll say very few steps to enjoy the new amazing world of GNU/Linux, very little steps will take you away from your window$ world to a new wonderful world of computing,
1- Install an easy use distro like Ubuntu or Mandriva , they are the most easy distros out there and always we " in Eglug " always give advice for new comers to use one of this 2 distros.
2- take a few days reading about your new distro usually there is an easy manuals on there websites
3- in this few days you can join there live chat IRC channels which always on FreeNode irc servers "irc.freenode.net port 6667" only read there questions and the answers that will help you later.
4- start messing around with your new installed system
5- take few mints to think about what you used to do with your old system and then take a look at The table of equivalents / replacements / analogs of Windows software in Linux. and start play with the new software.
6- Also check Freshmeat website and sourceforge website for more software.
7- try to read as much as you can and google.
8- You can get also local support for GNU/Linux users like Eglug website or there irc channel #eglug @ irc.freenode.net port 6667
I hope this little brain storm will help more new comers.
